French beauty conglomerate LOréal Group has announced that by 2030, 100% of the plastics used in its product packaging will be sourced from recycling or bio-based materials. According to data disclosed on the group's official website, plastics currently account for nearly 60% of L'Oréal Group's total packaging materials.

Unilever updated its 'plastic reduction' commitment in October of an earlier year, targeting the following goals by 2025:

Reduce the absolute use of plastic packaging by over 100,000 metric tons through a circular plastic packaging distribution model.

Reduce the usage of virgin plastics by more than 350,000 metric tons by employing alternative packaging materials and reducing plastic content in packaging.

Invest in waste collection, processing infrastructure.

Procure more recycled plastic materials for packaging.

Increase the proportion of recycled plastic materials in packaging to over 25%.

Pay for the collection of more waste packaging.

In April 2020, Procter & Gamble (P&G) stated in its '2019 P&G Citizenship Report White Paper' that by 2030, it aims to use 100% recyclable, reusable packaging materials and reduce the use of plastics produced from crude oil by 50% globally. This is estimated to reduce the use of new plastics by over 300,000 metric tons.

As of the report's publication, P&G had used approximately 45,000 metric tons of post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics in its packaging and had ensured that 90% of its product packaging was made from recyclable materials or launched projects to enhance recycling capabilities."
